Lakeside Retreat

Bright, spacious and beautifully positioned, Lakeside Retreat is a stylish three-bedroom holiday lodge sleeping up to six guests. With a sun-filled deck, comfortable open-plan living and the resort’s two coarse fishing lakes less than a minute’s walk away, it’s a wonderful base for a relaxing Devon escape.

Self check-in is simple with a convenient key safe. Walk up the steps to the lodge and you’ll find the front door on your right, or continue around to the generous main deck. This sunny outdoor space is ideal for making the most of warm days, whether you’re enjoying a leisurely breakfast, dining beneath the open sky or simply relaxing with a drink. Privacy slats provide a more secluded feel, while comfortable rattan seating and an outdoor dining table offer plenty of room for everyone.

Step through the front door into the lodge’s impressive open-plan living area. Its vaulted ceiling, large windows and glazed doors fill the space with natural light and frame the leafy woodland surroundings. The inviting lounge features two comfortable sofas, an armchair, a coffee table and a large wall-mounted Smart TV—perfect for unwinding together after a busy day exploring Devon.

Beside the lounge is a six-person dining table, providing a welcoming setting for family meals, holiday breakfasts and relaxed evenings together. The contemporary kitchen is well equipped for a self-catering stay, with a new electric oven, gas hob, dual-zone air fryer, microwave, toaster and kettle. A large breakfast bar with additional seating creates another sociable spot for morning coffee or keeping the cook company.

Lakeside Retreat has three comfortable bedrooms. The master bedroom features a king-size bed and its own en-suite shower room with a toilet and washbasin. The remaining two bedrooms are both furnished with twin beds, making the lodge especially well suited to families and groups of friends. There is also a modern family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower.

Gas central heating keeps the lodge warm and welcoming throughout the seasons, while useful storage beneath the holiday home provides space for beach equipment and other outdoor essentials.

One of the lodge’s greatest attractions is its superb position within Finlake Resort & Spa. The resort’s two coarse fishing lakes are less than a minute’s walk away and are free for guests to use, subject to the usual fishing rules and licence requirements. Beautiful woodland walks and the outdoor activity area are also just a few minutes away, with activities including archery, Segway adventures, axe throwing and laser combat available to book.

For something a little different, a nearby footpath leads towards Huxbear Vineyard, a family-run Devon vineyard offering pre-booked tours and wine tastings.

The lodge is located within Haulfryns Finlake Resort & Spa, set across 130 acres of beautiful Devonshire countryside. It is right on the doorstep of Dartmoor National Park and only a short drive away from the seaside (English Riviera). The on-site leisure complex offers a heated indoor and outdoor pool with water flumes, an adventure playground, a luxury spa, and a fitness centre. Various on-site group activities for all ages are available for booking at the resort, and so are the tennis and basketball courts. The two on-site coarse fishing lakes are full of bream, roach, dace, large crucian carp and perch. The on-site café and the Retreat (Sports Bar & Restaurant) serve lovely breakfasts, lunches and dinners. In the evenings you can also enjoy a game of pool or occasional guest singers. 

The resort, owned and managed by Haulfryn Group Limited, offers a fabulous leisure complex with a heated indoor waterpark/pool, an excellent fitness centre, a well-equipped gym, a sauna, and a steam room. Furthermore, onsite group activities for all ages and abilities (e.g. archery, aeroball, Segway safari, axe throwing) are available on the resort site. Why not try something new or adventurous (e.g. sea scooters, fencing) Or maybe have a game of tennis or golf at the local golf course? Our guests are also welcome to visit the luxury on-site Sirona Spa. It is the perfect place to relax, rewind and reset.  

Children will love the outdoor pool with a water slide and a splash area for toddlers during the summer months. Similarly, the onsite adventure park, nature trails, tennis courts, coarse fishing lakes and horse riding provide sporting opportunities for everyone. 

The onsite Retreat Bar and Restaurant serves lunch and à la carte evening meals. Similarly, the Hub offers breakfast, light bites and an extensive takeaway menu for the guests to enjoy freshly cooked food in the comfort of their accommodation.
