We’ve listened to your feedback — and we’ve made an important improvement to how we handle breakage deposits.
From today, we will no longer be adding a £125 breakage deposit onto your holiday balance.
That means:
✅ No extra £125 to pay upfront
✅ No waiting for a refund after your stay
✅ No additional money to “find” before arrival
✅ The price you see advertised is the price you pay
Instead, we are moving to a pre-authorised card hold system, similar to what hotels use.
What does that mean?
We will place a temporary authorisation on your card before arrival. No money is physically taken from your bank account. The funds simply remain authorised, and unless there are damages (which is very rare), the hold automatically drops away.
So from your point of view — nothing extra leaves your account.
We know that when you’re budgeting for a well-deserved break, clarity matters. Holidays should feel exciting and stress-free from the moment you book — not complicated by extra charges and refunds.
This change means:
🌿 Clearer pricing
🌿 Simpler checkout
🌿 No hidden extras
🌿 A smoother booking experience
Whether you’re booking a family getaway, a couples’ retreat, or a relaxing hot tub break, you can now book with even more confidence knowing that what you see is what you pay.
We’re always looking at ways to improve your experience — from first click to check-out day — and this is another step towards making Devon Holidays even easier to book with.
If you’ve been thinking about securing your next break, now is the perfect time.
